10. Russian Mafia
The Russian mafia is perhaps the most dangerous. It originated in the former Soviet Union and now it has influence all over the world. It has between 100,000 to 500,000 members. They are involved in organized crimes in countries. Israel, Hungary, Spain, Canada, UK, USA and Russia are the name of few countries affected by the crimes or Russian Mafia.
In modern times, there are as many as 6,000 different groups,with more than 200 of them having a global reach. Criminals of these various groups are either former prison members, corrupt officials and business leaders, people with ethnic ties, or people from the same region with shared criminal experiences and lead. However, the existence of such groups has been debated. In December 2009, Timur Lakhonin, the head of the Russian National Central Bureau of Interpol, stated "Certainly, there is crime involving our former compatriots abroad, but there is no data suggesting that an organized structure of criminal groups comprising former Russians exists abroad",while in August 2010, Alain Bauer, a French criminologist, said that it "is one of the best structured criminal organizations in Europe, with a quasi-military operation.








9. The Sicilian Mafia: Cosa Nostra
The Sicilian Mafia, also known as simply the Mafia or Cosa Nostra ("Our Thing"), is a criminal syndicate in Sicily, Italy. It is a loose association of criminal groups that share a common organisational structure and code of conduct. The basic group is known as a "family", "clan", or "cosca".Each family claims sovereignty over a territory, usually a town or village or a neighbourhood (borgata) of a larger city, in which it operates its rackets. Its members call themselves "men of honour", although the public often refers to them as "mafiosi". The mafia's core activities are protection racketeering, the arbitration of disputes between criminals, and the organizing and oversight of illegal agreements and transactions.
Besides the official members, there are members who are not true members. An official member will have to undergo the initiation ceremony, which will probably have to kill someone to prove their worth. Each member will have to follow the code of silence, on the pain of death.












8. Colombian Mafia
The Colombian mafia is basically formed by drug cartels. They operate in many countries and have organizations that deal with political, military and legal cartels. The important cartels from Colombia are the Cartel de Cali, Medellin and Norte del Valle.There was a time that cartels were threatened by the extradition treaty between the US and Colombia. The leaders went into hiding and ordered the members of the mafia kill anyone who supported the treaty. 7. Chinese Mafia: Triad
The Triad consists of many criminal organizations which are based in China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and among various other countries. Apart from the China, they are also active on American soil. They have strong networks in the cities like New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver and San Francisco.

Yakuza (Japanese: ヤクザ, [jaꜜkɯza]), also known as gokudō (極道, "the ultimate path"), are members of transnational organized crime syndicates originating in Japan. The Japanese police, and media by request of the police, call them bōryokudan (暴力団, "violent groups"), while the yakuza call themselves "ninkyō dantai" (任侠団体 or 仁侠団体, "chivalrous organizations"). The yakuza are notorious for their strict codes of conduct and organized fiefdom-nature. They have a large presence in the Japanese media and operate internationally with an estimated 102,000 members.
They are involved in forced protection rackets, illegal importation of uncensored pornography from Europe and USA, houses of prostitution and illegal immigration.









5. The Mexican Mafia
The Mexican Mafia (Spanish: Mafia Mexicana), also known as La eMe (Spanish for "the M"), is a highly organized Mexican American criminal organization in the United States.Despite its name, the Mexican Mafia did not originate in Mexico, and is entirely a U.S. criminal prison organization. Sureños, including MS-13 is a Mexican gange. and Florencia 13,use the number 13 to show allegiance to the Mexican Mafia. M is the 13th letter of the alphabet. Law enforcement officials report that La eMe is the most powerful gang within the California prison system.Government officials state that there are currently 155–300 official members of the Mexican Mafia with around 990 associates who assist La eMe in carrying out its illegal activities in the hopes of becoming full members.

The Israeli mafia is the general term for organized crime groups operating in Israel and also internationally. Allegedly there are 16 crime families operating in Israel, five major groups active on the national level, and 11 smaller organizations. There are reputed to be six Maghrebi Jewish crime families active and three Arab crime families.Many heads and members of the crime groups have either been killed or are in prison.The Russian-Israeli Mafia has infiltrated the US political system so well that the US forces are failing to make any significant progress in stopping them.
